My shop is Crow Shea

Sat Sep 21, 2013 11:05 pm by Dawn Crow Shea

Hey everyone!

My shop is Crow Shea!

It started out by me learning to crochet so I could make my kids hats for the winter. THEN people noticed them and asked me to make them for their kids, and then strangers asked where my hats came from and I got a few orders that way! So I started my facebook page!

My Facebook Shop is https://www.facebook.com/crowshea

So, that's kind of why I chose that name.

My business is From Home, and I am pretty new to the game. I have fallen in love with the hobby, and it helps me contribute to our household, which is a bonus!

I have links to my Pinterest, Facebook page, Etsy shop, and Twitter in my profile, so CHECK ME OUT!!!! Just don't become a weirdo stalker... that's kind of creepy. Wink

I own MoonShadow Threads which isn't really around anymore... Well it is, but I am taking an extended break from it due to personal issues. BUT I plan on getting it back up and running soon. I did some crochet but I am mostly known for my Clay covered crochet hooks. You've probably seen them on Youtube's Bobwilson123 & Yolanda's crochet channels. What are your must haves on your table when you set up?

    I always have:
    Business cards
    coupons
    pictures
    custom order forms

8 x 10 frame with a letter containing key items I make and a note that I am on Facebook, Pinterest, Etsy, and Storenvy.

I've never done a craft fair but imagine how I would set up a table if I ever did.

Must haves would be a look book, cards, order forms, and TONS of product. Lots of smalls--everything packaged, and props to help take things up off the table and draw people in!

I want to do a craft fair so bad. There are two in my area this month and I just found out about them and don't have enough inventory to go. Sad

I got invited to one last year and declined for the same reason but I've been dreaming of it ever since. I'd probably have vintage lace and old suitcases stacked up on the table. Maybe some old lattice screens. Smile

I've never participated in a craft fair, but I've heard that if you have a credit card thingamajig attached to your phone, or something similar, you tend to make more sales. Smile

No craft fairs for me yet, even though there are tons around here. They have application deadlines months in advance and I always forget :(I have got to get on the ball and get to one soon! When I do I think my must haves will be:

    *My paypal and square readers
    *Lots and lots of inventory
    *Look book of professional pictures
    *Business Cards
*Some type of small goody to handout
    *Help!
*A layered display, I have a banner with my shop name I had printed for a Birthday Expo  and then maybe some funky vintage candle holders and props to give it some height.

Here is a pic of the Birthday Party Expo table I set up Smile

This is great information. Thank you all so much. I definitely want to do some next year and thought about bringing my ipad and having a slideshow of some of the items I have made but not presently at the table. That way they can see the different items I can make and are a made to order type of item. What are your thoughts on that?

I think a slide show is a great idea! If you can get some professional pictures of your items to show them off that is even better Smile I have noticed that I sell more of an item with a professional pic.

Instead of your Ipad, that likely is pricey, and contains a LOT of your personal information, how about one of those USB picture frames? My sister had one at her wedding, and we recently went to a funeral that had several around the room. I thought of using my laptop, but think I will be going with a couple of those photo frames. All great ideas on what to bring along!! It is hard to know what product to put out, and even more challenging to display, and even more challenging to entice them quick enough to keep the line moving!! Loss gainers are a great incentive and I use Tawashis (scrubbies).

I love the picture frame idea!! When I used to sell at craft shows, I had my whole set up in white. It made all my homemade goodies really stand out and you can add splashes of color here and there to really make it stand out. Always have my money box, business cards, banner, lots of change, and I always fiddle fart around in my booth to draw people in. They seem to be nosey and want to know what I'm messing around with in my booth. lol

Tylenol, maybe something a bit stronger lol (a bottle of vodka hiding under the table)! The first and only one I've done was an absolute failure, not on my part, but it was very poorly advertized and put together, it rained record torrential downpours that weekend, the list goes on and on, but I am really looking forward to trying one again, maybe not this year, but someday!

I really want to try one but the booth fees here are really up there (some are around $200) and I'm so afraid I'll come out in the negative and have invested all the time and money to get my stock up to fail miserably.

There's one in my area that's $400. One lady I talked to does the fair with some other people so they split the cost. They just initial the tags so when something of theirs sell they get the money. Just a idea for you to think about if you have other crafters around you that you know
